Chronic Pain can be Treated Effectively
For many years, we have alleviated the pain of thousands of patients. Chronic pain sufferers tend to have tried the more common treatment strategies, such as oral medications and stress reduction techniques, without significant success. Most pain can be classified into two broad categories: neuropathic pain or nociceptive pain. And whether you are experiencing neuropathic pain (burning, tingling, shooting pain due to nerve damage) or nociceptive pain (dull, aching, throbbing pain due to tissue damage), the professionals at Innovative Pain Specialists will further classify your pain and construct effective remedies, suited for your specific condition, to reduce or eliminate your pain.
Don't let chronic pain ruin your life – you don’t have to be in pain!
Unparalleled Quality Care with an Individual Approach
At Innovative Pain Specialists, we focus on quality care and outcomes-based medicine in order to improve your quality of life and well-being. Each of our physicians has unique and specific training within the field of Interventional Pain Management. Our main goal is to treat you with compassion and respect. We first aim to accurately diagnose the cause of your pain. Once an accurate diagnosis has been made, we will then work with you in order to establish a treatment plan that is appropriate for you individually.
We also strongly believe that the public should be informed about their physician's background, education and clinical training. After all, if you place trust in your physician to make important decisions regarding your health, wouldn't you want to know about their educational and clinical background? Many physicians describe themselves as "pain management" physicians, and interestingly enough, they lack comprehensive training and/or experience. Unfortunately, this is sometimes not readily apparent to the public. On the surface, many people cannot tell the difference between one pain management practice versus another. As a result, we would like to educate you, as a potential patient, about our practice because we feel that education and experience can influence how your doctor chooses to treat you as an individual patient.
Our doctors have both the appropriate residency training as well as comprehensive fellowship training in the field in which they practice. In a formal sense, this field is known as Pain Medicine, and is recognized by the American College of Graduate Medical Education. Often, it is generally referred to as Pain Management or Interventional Pain Management. The path to being a specialist in this field includes: 1. Specialty training in a residency program (such as Anesthesiology), and 2. Sub-specialty training (known as a fellowship) in the field of Pain Medicine.
However, our physicians don't stop there. There is a rigorous process that our physicians have chosen to complete, and this is known as Board Certification. This extensive process involves the completion of many years of training as described above, in addition to successful completion of written tests and oral exams by a panel of experts in the field. Both Dr. Paul Marsiglia and Dr. Demetrios Louis have not only completed all of the necessary training as described above (Internship, Residency, & Fellowship), but have also earned board-certification in not one, but two fields! This includes the specialty of Pain Medicine as well as the specialty of Anesthesiology. Please note: our physicians are on staff at Northwest Community Hosptial (Arlington Heights, IL), as well as Advocate Condell Medical Center (Libertyville, IL).
So, now that you are familiar with us, our practice, and our philosophy, please feel free to give us a call or schedule a consultation so that we can focus on you and your well-being!
